Ralph Milton
Ralph Milton's background in radio broadcasting, journalism, publishing and writing have earned him the reputation as the United Church of Canada's foremost storyteller. Along with Jim Taylor, he co-founded internationally acclaimed Wood Lake Books (our distributor!), partnered up with a Winnipeg curriculum project that became the renowned Whole People of God resource and written prolifically all the while.
His "Living God's Way" children's bible story book set the standard for theology with integrity for children. "This United Church of Ours" described the denomination to itself and others with a gentle humour and insight, just as "Angels in Red Suspenders" recounted a life of faith. Most recently, Ralph has devoted himself to exploring the life of Julian of Norwich - the greatest mystic of mediaeval time. "Julian's Cell" is the account, through a weaving of sparse facts and Ralph's dramatic fiction, of the life of Mother Julian. Naturally, he published a follow-up book of "The Essence of Julian" - a collection of her mystical writings on such things as the nature of Christ and the holy church.
So that people could sing as well as read the wisdom of Julian of Norwich, Ralph approached Linnea with a hymn text looking for a tune. The result is "Julian's Song", a haunting mediaeval-like piece for congregational or choir singing.
The piece is available on our Sheet Music page, while Ralph is at Join Hands.
